This is a collection of recipes for the camping trips, meant for the patrols to quickly choose a meal, and know what to buy, and how to make it. All recipes based on an 8 scout patrol. Additions or comments are welcome.

                                                Breakfast Donuts

 

Ingredients

Biscuits                                                                         Amount 16

Melted butter                                                                            Amount ½ cup

Cinnamon                                                                                 Amount a table spoon

Sugar                                                                                       Amount ¾ cup

 

Directions

  1. melt butter in a pot, and pour into a shallow plate
  2. Take out the biscuits, roll them into a long rope, wrap in a donut around a skewer. Can impale it the long way to make churros. Or even rip the hole in, and grill on a skillet.
  3. Roast the donuts over the fire until light brown
  4. Push of the stick, and flip in melted butter plate
  5. flip in cinnamon sugar plate

 

This is an easy meal

Requires 2 plates and skewers and a pot

                                           Omelets

 

Ingredients

#1 Eggs                                                                        Amount 8

#2 Shredded American cheese                          Amount 2 cups

 

 

 

Optional Ingredients

#1 Sausage                                                                   #2 Bacon

#3 Lettuce                                                                    #4 pepper
#5 onion                                                                       #6 mushrooms

 

Directions

  1. Crack an egg into a bowl, add the cheese and other toppings in, and beat well

 

  1. Pour the egg onto the griddle, and cook it till it becomes firm. You can let it sit, and then flip it in on itself.

 

  1. Take it off, and serve

 

This takes about 5 minutes an omelet

Uses a griddle or frying pan, fork, flipper

Easy meal

                                                            Pancakes

 

Ingredients

 

#1 just add water mix               amount make 4 pancakes per person, check box for amount of batter

#2 water                                                           amount check box for water to mix ratio

#3 Chocolate chips                                           amount 1 handful for every 2 pancakes

#4 m&ms                                                         amount 1 handful for every 2 pancakes

 

 

Optional ingredient/topping

 

#1Syrup                                                           amount one bottle

#2 Chocolate Syrup                                          amount one bottle

 

 

 

Directions

 

1.  Preheat grill.

 

2. Mix the water and the pancake mix in a large bowl; stir till you get rid of the clumps.

 

3. Pour oil on the grill before every batch, pour two even sized pancakes, then add the chocolate chips and m&ms. Flip the pancakes when the bubbles pop, or the bottom is the right shade of brown. For second flip check the bottom for color. Repeat till all batter is used.

 

#4 Serve the pancakes, and pour the syrup or chocolate syrup on them.

 

It takes 5 minutes to prepare the batter and skillet. And 3 minutes for each batch of 2.

Very easy meal

Needs 1 skillet

                                                            Scrambled Eggs

 Ingredients

#1Eggs                                                             10

#2Milk                                                                         1/3 cup

#3Salt                                                                          ½ teaspoon

 

Optional

#1 Cheese                                                                    #2 Bacon

 

Directions

  1. Butter the pan slightly
  2. Crack eggs, pour milk, and salt into bowl
  3. Whisk the bowl thoroughly
  4. Empty the mix into the pan, and stir slowly till its as soft as pudding

 

This is an easy meal

Takes a bowl, fork, and skillet

Needs butter

                                                Taylor Ham and cheese sandwiches

 

Ingredients

 

#1 Bagels                                                                                 amount 8 bagels

#2 Eggs                                                                                    amount 16

#3 American Cheese                                                                amount 16

#4 Taylor Ham                                                             amount 2 packs of 8

 

Optional ingredient/topping

 

#1 Ketchup                                                      #2 Salt or Pepper

 

 

Directions

 

1. Heat up the pan and spread with butter. Toast the bagels slightly. And set them aside.                    

 

2. Using the same pan cook the eggs. You can scramble the eggs 1 at a time, or cook them sunny side up. You crack the egg into the pan, break the yolk a bit so it flattens, and then flip it.

 

3. Cook the Taylor ham in another pan, or quickly wipe the same pan clean. Cut a slice from the outside of the piece towards the center to keep it from inflating in the middle. Then lay it on the ungreased pan and check the bottom often.

 

4. Stack all the ingredients on the bagel use ketchup or salt and pepper, and eat the sandwich.

                                                            Grilled Cheese

 

Ingredients

 

#1 Bread                                                                                  amount 16 slices

#2 American cheese                                                                 amount 8 slices

#3 Butter                                                                                  amount 1 stick

 

 

Directions

 

1.      Put butter on both sides of the bread.

            

2.  Butter the pan.

 

3. Grill pieces of bread for 2 minutes, or golden brown then flip.

 

4.  Put the cheese in between the slices of bread. You can grill this for a few seconds to melt the cheese, but it might dirty your pan.

 

This is an easy meal for any troop.

It takes 1 pan or skillet.

Needs butter.

                                                            Holy Mackerel

 

Ingredients

#1 Fillet of Mackerel                                                    Amount 1 per person

#2 Lemon juice                                                 Amount Half a lemon, table spoon

 

Optional

#1 salt                                                                          #2 pepper

#3 Oregano                                                                  #4 Basil

 

Directions

  1. put fillet in foil with a table spoon of oil
  2. Add lemon juice, and other toppings
  3. put in coals for 30 minutes

 

This is an easy meal to cook any fish

pasta hot dogs

Ingredients:

  • 1000 grams pasta
  • 2 tins of hot dogs
  • 1 big jar of pasta sause
  • 100 grams of pasta per person

 

How to Prepare:

1. boil pasta
2. cut up all hot dogs
3. when pasta is cooked drain water from pan
4. add pasta sause and hot dogs
5. cook altogether until sause and hot dogs are hot or warm.

                                                            Pita Pizzas

 

Ingredients

 

#1 Pita bread loaves                                                                 amount 2 per person

#2 Tomato Sauce                                                                     amount 2 cans

#3 Grated Mozzarella cheese                                                    amount 4 cups

 

 

 

Optional ingredient/topping

 

#1Sausage                                                        #2 Pepperoni

 

#3 Vegetables                                                  #4 Spinach

 

Directions

 

1.  Preheat skillet, and cut open and stuff the pitas with ingredients                

 

2. Oil the skillet, and cook on skillet on both sides

 

3. Cook both sides evenly till the bread browns and the insides are hot.

 

30 minutes for cook to prepare alone. 5 minutes for each to cook, 2 at a time.

This is hard the first time, but then it’ll be a medium difficulty meal. Should have 2 cooks.

Uses one skillet, a grater, spatula, spoon.

Needs oil or butter.

                                                            Quesadillas

 

Ingredients

 

#1 Shredded cheddar cheese                                                    amount 2 bags

#2 Tortillas                                                                               amount 1 bag

#3 Chicken                                                                               amount 2 boxes

 

 

Optional ingredient/topping

 

#1 bottle of salsa                                  #2 tomatoes, peppers or other vegetables

 

 

Directions

 

1. Put chicken and cheese in-between two tortillas, put in the center so they don’t ooze out. Put the optional vegetables in the tortilla with the chicken and cheese.

              

2. Grill the quesadilla on an oiled frying pan for 2 minutes than flip it, makes sure the insides don’t come out. 

 

3. Pour the salsa on when you’re eating it.

 

 5 minutes per quesadilla

This is a medium meal

                                                            Tacos

 

Ingredients

 

#1 Ground Beef                                                                        amount 2 pounds

#2 lettuce                                                                                 amount half a head

#3 Cheese                                                                                amount 1 lb. bag

#4 Tomato                                                                               amount 1 tomato

#5 Tortillas                                                                               amount 16

 

Optional ingredient/topping

 

#1 Sour cream                                                  #2 salsa of any flavor

 

 

Directions

 

1.   Dice the tomatoes, tear the lettuce, and grate the cheese.                

 

2. Brown the beef in a pot, and heat the tortillas in a frying pan till they have brown patterning. Keep the tortillas covered and the beef warm in its pot.

 

3. Let the patrol come and get a tortilla, add beef from the pot, cheese tomato and lettuce from its plate to the taco, and add sour cream or salsa. Every ingredient is optional.

 

It takes 30 minutes for the cook to get all the ingredients ready, and then the patrol goes in a line and each scout serves himself.

This is a medium meal, and it offers lots of variety for everyone. Tacos go well with rice.  When you drop stuffing from the taco onto your plate you mix it with the rice and eat it.

Uses a pot and a frying pan, a grater, big spoon, a spatula
